Camera Challenge | Day Two

So its day two of my DSLR camera challenge. These were taking this morning as the girls were waking up & starting their day. Once again, these are straight out of the camera, I'm not even re-cropping them. Everything is done in camera.

Today I'm going to try to take pictures through out the day as the natural light changes & in different rooms of the house.

Camera Challenge

I firmly believe the best camera is the one in your hand. I use my iPhone to take most of our pictures because its handy & the quality is good.

I was looking through some pictures on my computer & just from the thumbnails they stood out from the others. So I opened them to see what was different about them. And I noticed right away, they were taken with my Nikon D5100. And the quality was AMAZING.

these images are straight out of my camera & iPhone. No adjustments.

Here is one I took with my iPhone....

and if this is the only picture I had, I would be thrilled with this one.

Here are 4 I took with my Nikon...

Nikon D5100 pictures

Oh my what a cutie!! I LOVE these images! I can play with the aperture & blur the background so its not so distracting. And Macie's face doesn't look distorted.

So I've decided to challenge myself to use my Nikon more this week/month/year. I will still use my phone, because its easy. But I want to use my Nikon more.

Amazing Birthday | Fabric

I have a dear friend that will be celebrating a big milestone birthday this month. I wanted to make her a card and didn't mind if it took a little extra time. So I pulled out some products that I've not used before and started playing. I'm really pleased with how this card turned out. Its my first fabric card! The yellow chevron, pattern strip and envelope are fabric! I used a little adhesive on the envelope before adding some red hand-stitching. The strip of fabric is held in place with a little adhesive under the sentiment and then staples with Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.

I used this card from Carissa Wiley at Sprinkled with Glitter as inspiration....

The sentiment is from this stamp from Simon Says Stamp.

The rest of the supplies are all from Stampin' Up!
Unfortunately the fabric is discontinued, the red ink splatter from this stamp set Gorgeous Grunge and Real Red ink.

The little hearts are from the Builder Owl Punch.
